Pyrolysis is a form of gasification that turns waste into energy rich fuels by heating the waste under controlled conditions. Syngas much like gasification is also produced but through a different process.

Pyrolysis is the thermo-chemical decomposition of organic material, at elevated temperatures without the participation of oxygen. This absence of oxygen reduces the emissions produced and causes the waste to decompose into solids and gases that can be either condensed into fuel oils or gases; ‘Syngas’, pyrolysis liquid and solid char are produced.

– Syngas can be used to generate electricity

– Pyrolysis liquid can be used as a fuel or to make new products such as ethanol.

– The char can be used as a solid fuel or as a nutrient additive to improve soils.
